I don't know about the Polaris but I've seen just the Hayward pump housings in a pool store recently. I would assume you could just replace the housing. Lot cheaper than the whole pump.

Hey everyone-
Yesterday, I noticed a had a small (pin hole sized) crack in the casing of my Polaris Pump that was spewing water. I put some PVC cement on it to close it, but when I checked it today, the crack had spread greatly and now spans about 180 degrees around the pump case. I would describe the crack as hairline and it's located on the edge of the top/front of the cylindrical pump.
Can I fix this with some epoxy or other means? Or do I need to get a new Polaris pump? If installing the new pump something I can do without much trouble?
Thanks!

Ok, thanks. I was planning on looking into that today.
I checked this morning and my sorry patch-job didn't work!
Thanks for the suggestion.
Just FYI for anyone interested, I found a replacement housing on line and will replace it. I have the Polaris pump connections sealed off in the mean time.

Thanks for the followup. Glad it will work out.
