This is the first time it has ever happened....tried a vitamin c on it and it cleared about a 1 foot square area in about 2-3 minutes. This pretty much confirms that it is iron! Guess I have a project for this weekend now.
I pour the salt in and I do brush afterward. If you check around the forum you will find that I am a firm believer in brushing after adding any chemical to help distirbute it!I like to dumpt the salt on the ledge since it is in the direct flow of the return and this helps to move it around the pool also. Never had this happen with Morten Pellets, Diamond Crystal Sun Gems solar, Morton Pool or Diamond Crystal Pool!

Evan, since I think the same thing just happened to me to with "pool store salt", I just added some sequestrant right away. I didn't mess with the PH 'cause I'm not brave enough for that stuff yet. I did brush the stains every day and one day they seemed to be gone. I think the trick is to do something right away before it gets set in "stone".

Now, I'll be extra vigilant when adding salt or new water and make sure I have sequestrant handy. Yeeesh...it seems strange to have to sequester a pool instead of a jury.

Well, I got rid of the stains!...lowered the output on my SWG a few days ago so my FC was 1 ppm then I dropped the pH to 7.0, and since the staining was localized, I poured a bottle of 500 mg Vitamin C tablets into a sock and just ran it over the stained areas and watched them disappear. I then hit the pool with a good dose of sequestant and am running the filter and have turned up the SWG output a bit. Gonna recheck the pH tomoroow and slowly get that back up along with the FC....so far so good. I am now a happy camper!
