Albert, I maintain a 17x33 IG vinyl at our 'weekend' home that we only visit once or twice a month. Fortunately I have my dad who visits one a week. Unfortunately he has limited 'pool awareness' so I count on him to dump a gallon of 10% Cl and that's pretty much it. The filter (Hayward EC60 w/ 3/4 hp Superpump) is on a timer set to run for a couple hours afternoon and four hours in the very early morning (2-6am).
My advice is to first disable your skimmer. You'll suffer evaporative losses even with the solar cover (I do) and you don't want to come home to find your pump sucking air.
Thorough backwash.
Yup, get your Cl up with 30-40 CYA.
Vacuum well since you don't want debris blown into the pool to clog your maindrain.
I'd also dose it with a quart of Polyquat 60 for insurance.
This has worked real well for me as everytime I've arrived at our place I've only had to get the Cl back up and vacuum.
