Hi, I have a 15' round AG 5,000 gal. I inherited it with the house I'm renting, 2nd year. Last year no problems, this year had an early green algae bloom, which I took care of, but now have been battling cloudy water 3 weeks. I discovered this forum this past week and after doing some things suggested here my pool looks better than it did all month. I can finally see the bottom but its still cloudy. I added some De to my sand filter, and bleach to the pool. I got the FC and TC to 10 ppm. I'm also using trichlor pucks, two in feeder. My CYA was at 0. I decided to go to the pool store yesterday to test the water. I'm using Aquacheck select test strips. They were pretty accurate with most of the pool store results.
Pool Store, My results:
CYA O, O
TC 10, 10
FC 10, 10
PH 7.8, 7,7
TA 145, 180
TH 203, 250
The pool store sold me CYA which I added, but they also told me my sanitizer is low. Isn't 10 shock level with no stabilizer? Also if I bring the FC up to 15 ppm to finally clear the cloudy water is that safe for my children (ages 12 and 9) to swim in, or should I wait for it to come back down. They are giing crazy waiting for pool to clear. Thank you for this forum, you helped me so much but I still have a long way to go. Am going to go the BBB route!!!! Carolyn
