    Default Holding Chlorine levels

Anyone have a rough estimate for how long you should maintain a chlorine level of 3 PPM. I realize there a lot of varaibles but my pool seems to be consuming my FC more rapidly this year than last going from 3PPM to near zero in about 3 days. Luckily no TC at this point.
    Thx

I should be so lucky. I consume 2-3ppm daily. Does your pool get much Sun?

Yea, a good 4 - 5 hours a day of sun. Trees on bot sides so after 4:00PM I'm not in direct sun anymore.

I guess that answers it. With the size of this pool that is about 3 jugs per day! Maybe it is time to look into that SWG!

    What's your CYA(stabilizer) level?

With a CYA of 30-50ppm, 3ppm of FC is the MINIMUM you should have. 3-6 is your normal range.

If your CYA is below that, that may well be the cause of your FC dropping. With no CYA, sunlight's UV rays can break FC down in as little as 15 minutes.

thanks, CYA is slightly lower than 30. Trying to get it up to 40 using pucks so I get the added benefit of the chlorine. Guess I need to monitor daily for a few weeks to get a feel for how quickly it drops daily.
