Default Never too early for Winter in Ohio

I know it's a bit early for this but having just opened the pool two weeks ago all the aches and pains are still fresh and we're looking for tips & tricks on how to best close our pool this winter.

The pool: 16X32 Vinyl lined IG pool in northeast Ohio. We use a solid winter cover.

I was wondering how every one else in the northern latitudes closes their pools for the winter. Do you partially drain? What type of cover, if any, do you use? Do you add anti-freeze to the plumbing? For solid covers, how do you get all the leaves and debris off?

    Thanks in advance,
    Bill

My brother-in-law lives in Jefferson County Ohio (my husband is from there too...not that it really matters) and they have an IG vinyl pool. They generally drain below the skimmer and add antifreeze to the lines and cover with a winter safety cover. I'm not sure what they do for leaves and other debris on the cover in the spring though.

In the spring for start up they just dump in (and I mean that literally...they're not that "up" on their pool chemistry and it's not uncommon for them to have algae issue all season) liquid chlorine from the pool store.
