I just replaced the liner in my 24'x 52" AGP (about 12,600 gallons), and am now trying to get the chemistry right. Let me know if this is a good way to go.
Obviously with new water, there is no stabilizer so I've been adding chlorine with futility. Last night I put a couple pucks in the skimmer and a couple in the floater (open full) to get things started. I have a bunch of pucks left over from last season that are still usable, so I'd like to go ahead and use them before converting to bleach. I think I read somewhere that a puck adds about 1ppm stabilizer or so to 15,000 gallons, but I can't find where I saw that. Does that number sound right?
I'm thinking that if I add about three pounds of stabilizer it should bring my levels up to around 20ppm or so. If I have read this forum correctly, I want to be in the 30-50ppm range when I convert to bleach.
Does my thinking on all this sound about right? Any input would be appreciated.
