How am I doing so far?

With the frogger system I am to add two bags of non-chlorine shock once a week (I pick Fridays) and forget about it until the next Friday. Change chlorinator every three weeks.

All that I ask is that you don’t have a heart attack on me....I am newer than a newbie when it comes to this. It is amazing that all you have to do is hand someone a check and they will give you anything that you want regardless if you know what in the "h e double hockey sticks" you are doing. Please just bare with me during this extreme learning curve. I had to read the "destructions" on how to put the solar cover on...bubbles up or down. What did I get myself into!!!!! HELP HELP HELP just don’t kill me. thanx a million in advance.

Your biggest issue in your test results is lack of chlorine. If your counting on the frogger for chlorine, not many folks here will give you much long term encouragement.

It's not clear to me from your post that you are looking for advice for maintaining your pool with the methods on the forum or advice following the pool stores advice. Post back and let us know which of those you're trying to accomplish.

I really dont know...I want what is best short and long term. Monday thru Friday I dont get home til 6pm if I am lucky. The weekends are questionable some are jammed packed and others I never leave the driveway. The frogger system was included in with the purchase of the pool. I want the best of both worlds. I know that I do not want a green swamp. And all of the pool care is on me along with the other million and half other things on my plate. I guess if I have gone this far with "Pool Forum" that is the route I want to take. I have taken lots of the advise from "Pool Forum". The main one being that the pool store tested my water Friday and told me everything was good except for the calcium level and sold me a 10 pound bucket that is riding in the back of my trunk until I can get back to the store to return it.

So yes I want "Pool Forum's" help. So how do I rise my chlorine level??? Do I turn off the Frogger or take it off completely???

The frogger is a silver/zinc system. Siver is bacteriostatic but has a very slow kill time. I have no idea what zinc does in the water but I suspect is act similarly as copper (anyone out there know for sure?)

I don't see where anyone has addressed the pH problem yet--pH of 6.8 is acidic, and can damage your pool In fact, I think 6.8 is the lowest range on the test scale, so it could actually be lower than that. You need to get some 20 Mule team Borax into your pool. I'd start with about 1/3 box, pouring in through the skimmer, breaking up the clumps--give it a couple of hours to circulate, then retest and add more if you need to. You'll shooting for a target of 7.2-7.6.

Good call Janet! Also the TA is a bit low....it would probably be better at about 120 ppm! If your 27' above ground is round with 4 feet of water then 8 lbs of baking soda should get you in the ballpark. Since you pH is so low I would retest the TA once it is in line and see where the reading is....you might need less!
