They are just to keep the spoons dry. It is very important to keep the DPD powder dry, so you wouldn't want to intoduce a wet spoon.
Hi,
For testing I have been using a PS133 and an HTH 5-way(with refills from here). So basically I have a PS233 in two neat little boxes. One box for daily chlorine/pH testing, one for everything else. I may buy the PS234 next year. We'll see.
I bought a PS233r refill a few weeks ago. The container for the 10g of DPD powder does not have a spoon attached to the lid like the previous container did. Instead, it came with 2 little plastic spoons and a couple of tiny test tubes. I don't know what I am supposed to do with the test tubes. Are they just storage space for the spoons or am I supposed to use them for the test? I have been filling the chlorine test vial to the 10ml line and using 1 scoop of DPD powder like I was before. The test tubes do not hold 10ml. What are they for?
Thanks,
Bruce
