Polaris hose clamps - what am I missing?

i had a polaris 65. for mine I had to take the end of the hose, squeeze it and make a V, then slipped the clamp over the hose and let go. then i twisted the clamp into the proper position.

Take a look at the other areas of the hose where there are similar connections. If this is a 380 (180, 280), the mender nut goes onto the fitting or backwash valve first (narrow end first) then the hose is pushed on and the nut tightened onto the hose. It just has to be snug and there are no real threads cut into the hose.

It is similar with the 360 EXCEPT that the nuts tighten on while turned to the left (counter-clockwise).

thepoolman1 - thanks, I think I see what you are saying.

I was slipping the nut onto the hose first, then pushing the hose onto the barb, then trying to tighten the nut toward the fitting (very difficult).

I think you are saying put the nut on the fitting first and then slip the hose over the barb, then tighten the nut away from the fitting.

That's what I am going to try anyway!

I did the same thing when I took mine apart. Didn't pay attention to it when I took the fittings apart.
Anyway, the nut goes on the fitting, then the hose goes over the barb, then the nut tightnens down on the end of the hose.
