Pool Covers are a pain!

Anyone have luck with covers? I buy a new one every other year and they fall apart! This year i was smart enought to keep my reciept and fill out warranty card. But Ever year, getting it off is a PAIN and stuff dumps in the pool no matter how good i think i have the cover drained. ANyone out there use a net instead of a cover?

I had a problem when I opened my pool this year. It was my first winter so I never opened a pool before. I had a ton of leaves on my cover. I learned a few things this year and was able to lend them to my bro in law when we opened his pool.

1. Skim off all the leaves you can
2. Drain as much water as possible
3. Get an extra set of hands

I didnt do any of these and paid for it. I didnt drain enough water and those wet leaves are heavy. There are a ton more in there than it looks. So as a result a lot of leaves and dirt fell back into the pool.

I like the idea of using the leaf net over the winter cover. I may try that this year but dont want to think about that just yet.

Yes, I do all of those things and it is still very hard to get it off and keep the pool clean. I think I will try a net over the cover this year also.

I have a mesh "Loop Loc" cover (it is a different brand, same thing though). The mesh does allow fine grit to enter the pool, but it keeps all the big stuff out.

Come spring, I make sure the cover is tight and above the water level. Left on the pool, it dries quite nicely and I use a leaf blower to blow all of the accumlated stuff right off. It gets wet again when I take it off the pool, but since it is mesh, I just put the folded up cover on some chairs and it air dries, then we put it away.
