Default test results and SWG questions

    I tested this morning:
    pH 7.6
    FC 5.5
    CC 0
    CYA 50
    salt 3200

My FC has been 5.5 for a few days and doesn't go down. My salt reading with the PS234s has been at 3200 a few days as well. My SWG cell is not on most of the time or is at 30% or less and it still won't go down. My SWG is also reading salt at 3700. That is quite a difference from what I tested with the PS234s; my pool has a very definite salty taste and salt rings appear on my metal handrail and ladder.

My AutoPilot is at power level 2 with a SC 48 cell(don't now if that is helpful to you or not) and is water at 82.

I am not sure what to make of this; if all is Ok or I need some adjustments. Water is perfectly clear(except at night with the light on-seemed a bit cloudy in the light beam) with no chlorine smell.

    Happy Father's Day to all!

Your FC level is ok...if you want to lower it either just turn the output down a bit or shorthen you pump run time a bit. Is the pool getting any use? That can make a difference. If I don't use my pool for a week my FC tests higher than when I do.
Get your salt level checked at a pool store to verify what the reading is. The autopilot has a way to calibrate the readout from a good reading if it is off. You need to call tech support at autopilot systems for the procedure if it needs to be recalibrated. (this is not that uncommen, btw)
Your CC is 0 so there is nothing in the water the chlorine is fighting.

You didn't say how big your pool is. I have a 6600 gal pool and my Aqualogic is running at 5% with an 8 hour pump run time and my FC is at 3 ppm.

The pool is getting LOTS of use and it is in full sun all day. How is Leslie's for water testing? My pool builder is very far away, though there are a few AG pool stores closer than my builder.

all pool stores are variable in their water testing. It depends on the person doing the testing. If they use a meter to test for salt ask them how often they calibrate it. It it is farly often (at least every few weeks) then it should be ok.

I think you need to drop your AutoPiliot to level 1.

Read the startup section of the manual (page 11)... I normally run 80-90%, and should bump to level 2!!!

    Thanks!

Leslie's also sells a salt test kit on-line made by Taylor. It uses the std test tube and includes R-0630 (chromate indicator) and R-0718 (Silver Nitrate Reagent).

I just tried it for the first time just now as I'm using 80lb bags of softener salt to weigh down my drop-in steps. The water tested at 1000ppm and the kit worked EXACTLY as described.

Not that I care about salt as I don't have an SWG, but I wanted to play with the new toy!
