Default Changing inground pool over to Salt water??

We are changing over to a salt water system in our pool and need to know what the best Variable Speed Pump is to use? I don't want a Pentair because of the horror stories I have been reading about their Warranty that wont cover unless you have certified Pool installers install it for you.

Your choice is between Jandy, Pentair and Hayward, and you've ruled out Pentair. I don't particularly recommend Jandy pumps . . . so that leaves Hayward. (Actually, my preference is for the Pentair VS pump based on the Whisperflo model . . . but then I don't have the warranty issue you do.)

Just a caution: converting an existing pool to salt is often a REALLY bad idea. Make SURE you've 'audited' your pool, and verified that all components are salt-compatible. See the Salt: Pro/Con here: http://www.poolforum.com/pf2/showthread.php/29186

Upgraded membership and moved thread to the [B] Salt pool/B] section. You may need to log out and back in to see everything.

PS.You can search use Google to search multiple pool sites, using Google's 'advanced search operators" to limit your search to specific sites. This page of mine will create the search links for you. Google knows my site -- and all the others -- much better than those sites internal search functions! And, if you need to post pictures -- of your pool, filter, pump, piping, what-not -- there are instructions on this page

Please note: the Super Search page does NOT search directly; it only CREATES special Google links, that enable a FOCUSED Google search!
