My decking is tile. Primarily a light beige with a few dark tiles. The light ones are noticeably cooler than concrete. The dark ones are at least as hot if not hotter. It makes a beautiful deck. Consider the slipperiness if you go further.
Any opinions on the use of tile as decking/coping?
Specifically, is tile any cooler than stamped/patterned concrete?

I think tile would make a very nice deck, and in a light color would certianly be cooler than concrete.
However the slip factor has to be addressed. Most floor tile isn't very easy to walk on when wet, add sunscreen and the like and you have a slip and fall ready to happen.
Also - if you put the tile on an existing concrete slab - consider a type of "movable" sub flooring to prevent cracking down the middle of a tile.. I think HomeDepot sells a rubbery type prep you can roll on.
Our neighbors just laid their tile over the concrete and got small cracks all through the tile.
