Default Startup after replaster--do's and don't?

We just finished filling our pool after a replaster. I can't clearly recall the do's and don't of breaking in a new plaster job. I have gotten the water clear and the chlorine level to about 4 ppm. pH is over 8, but I am reluctant to try and pring that down just yet. I seem to recall something about calcium leeching into the water as the plaster fully cures, but I may have just dreamt that.

I need to brush the pool a couple times a day, and can't heat or vacuum for two weeks. Any other advice to care and feeding of fresh plaster?

I do remember the no heat, no vaccum thing. But I seem to remember that you should get your chemicals in balance.

We have just had the pool replastered with Diamond Brite, and here are following the rules below.

    1. When full, i.e., above the return jets, start the circulation through the main drain only. Run continuously for 3 days.

    2. On the first day, test the water completely, including temperature. Adjust pH to 7.2 - 7.4 and TA to 100 ppm. Do not add chlorine or calcium chloride.

    3. Brush the entire surface twice a day for the first three days. Maintain the ph and TA levels in Item #2.

    4. On the third day, adjust the chemistry as follows:
    Free Chlorine 1 - 3 ppm, pH 7.4, TA 120ppm, CH 200ppm, Stabilizer 30 ppm

    5. Set pump timer to normal operating hours.

    6. Do not use a wheeled vacuum for 14 days to avoid leaving "wheel marks".

    7. Brush pool bottom and walls daily for the first two weeks.

These instructions are not cast in stone, but to give guidelines based on customer feedbacks.

    Hope this helps.
