In Ben's new kit, he sends charts with them. If you haven't ordered one yet, you should go ahead and get it. There is a best guess CYA chart that shows what PPM to keep your chlorine levels and also what levels are needed to shock, CYA is from 30-50, but there are folks that run it a lot higher than that, so it is a subjective number, PH around 7.5, ALK I think is around 100-120, not sure on CAL since I have a vinyl liner and don't need to test for it. I hope I am right on these as this is coming off the top of my head. You can search the test kit results threads and see what numbers are posted and what the experts recommend doing. With this theory on pool maintenance, you need Bleach, Borax, & Baking soda-BBB, also muratic acid and CYA. Pretty basic, very simple and effective, both results wise, and from someone like myself that switched from Baquacil, cost wise. Good luck!
