    Default Pump size

I have an above the ground pool that is 22dia. x 4ft tall. My pump has gone out. sf15110 I thought about going to a larger pump. If get a bigger pump do I also need to get a larger sand filter ?

    Default Re: Pump size

Sorry I didn't see this sooner => NEVER increase pump size, without increasing the filter size.

Virtually ALL above ground pools have oversized pumps and undersized filters. Matched sets, like Intex sells MAY be actually matched, but I don't have data proving that.

    Oversized pumps:
    • push dirt THROUGH sand filters
    • DAMAGE membranes and grids on DE filters
    • COLLAPSE filter pleats on cartridge filters.

What most pools need is a bigger FILTER, not a bigger PUMP!
