We had a new in ground pool liner installed on Aug. 15 at our home in NJ. We have noticed that we've been losing water (about 1/2 inch a day) since the installation. Could it be that the liner needs to keep stretching with the water in it before it conforms to the sides and corners of the walls, thus making it seem like we are losing water but actually it could just be the liner adjusting? We tried testing for a leak with using red dye around the under water light, around the fiberglass steps in the shallow end and around the skimmer but it didn't seem to draw the dye in to indicate a leak. We don't see any air bubbles coming up from any part of the liner itself to indicate there would be a hole somewhere. I do feel a few air pockets around the bottom corners and wonder if that just needs to settle which would draw the liner down further in the water, thus making it look like the water level is lower.
Can you tell me if we just need to let the liner keep expanding to get a better feel if we are losing water? I did notice today that we did not lose any water from yesterday. Maybe a fraction of an inch but we had a lot of kids in the pool yesterday. We are having issues with the liner company not being cooperative now that we've paid them in getting someone out to investigate.
Looking forward to your response. Thank you!
