Hi,

I live in NYC and am ready to open my pool using BBB method. I am a beginner at pools so this is all new to me.
Here's my info:

-18 ft Round - 4' deep
-Sta-Rite Cristal-Flo II Sand Filter (don't know when the sand was last changed)
-Sta-Rite Dynamo 1HP Pump

I had it winterized and covered over the winter by a professional. I took off the cover off two weeks ago but haven't put any chemicals in yet. The water looks somewhat clear but I have 100's of dead mosquitos in the water. I would like to run the pump, but would rather wait until I get the chemicals in.

I have a Taylor K-2006 arriving on Saturday. I need to pick up a new backwash hose, vac hose (as the ends are broken) and I'll need a net. I will likely pick those up at local pool store.

How does one measure how much Borax, Bleach and/or Baking Soda is req'd? I did the basic volume calculation for my pool and I get 7634 gallons (used this link to calculate: http://www.pentairpool.com/support/c...c/poolcalc.htm).

My pool gets sun drenched and as I have been reading, more sun, more heat, eats up more chlorine. Is this true?.
