We recently completed (late February, 2016) a new pool build in North Florida (Amelia Island). The pool is concrete with Marcite finish and holds an estimated 15,000 gallons. When I test the water, it shows high PH (8.0 - 8.2), so I add Muriatic acid to bring it down to a 7.2 to 7.5 reading using a Taylor K-1004 test kit, but within a day or two, the PH level is back to where it was. We use an Intellichlor salt water system with a pentair 150 cartridge filter and a 1 HP Pentair pump. We also use a Built Right Heat pump. Chlorine level is in the 2-3 ppm range, and alkalinity is 90 ppm.

I am not experiencing any problems, but am concerned that the pool PH will not stabilize. Reading your web site suggests that high PH may not be bad and that the any given pool may have a naturally high PH level. So, my question is, are there any early warning signs that I should look for to indicate I may have a problem? Do you know if high PH is common in north Florida pools?

Thanks for your help.
