Daughter purchased home with existing pool. She has been told that the stabilizer concentration is too high and she should drain the pool and start over.
The other chemical balances were off as well but I've gotten the PH and Alk. to drop by adding muratic acid. This also seemed to help the stabilizer concentration as well. At least the test strip wasn't as dark.
Chlorine levels are almost undetectable, but the acid seemed to help slightly there as well. Chlorine is added via tablets in a float.
Is there a method of controlling the stabilizer concentration short of draining the pool?
Can chlorine be added via a method other than tablets in the float to get the concentration to acceptable levels?
Pump and filter are working okay at this point. Was having to backwash about every three hours when I started cleaning the pool up. Water clarity is good and we would be swimming if not for the low chlorine concentration.
Think I can get the Ph and Alk. to drop some more once I purchase more Acid.
Thanks
Kent
