Cool Cheap Cl? Check with your local pool store.

I'm now buying my Cl from a neighborhood pool store. 2.5 and 5 gal. jugs of 12.5% @ $2.00/gal. They're asking for a $6.00 deposit on each bottle and I just bring 'em back for refills. New skids of Cl brought in each week so it's pretty fresh.

I'm also looking at 36 empty Chlorox bottles on a rope out in my shed wondering 'what was I thinking?'.

    ; )

    Anybody need some boat buoys?

    C.

Edit: Oops, meant to say 10.5%

I've looked into liquid chlorine from local pool stores...unfortunately I've called EVERY pool store in a 30 mile radius, and NONE of them carry liquid chlorine.

I bought some 10.5% chlorine today at the local "L" pool supply store. $3.95 after tax for 2.5 gallons. Comes out to $1.58 a gal. not a bad price, and saves me time from driving all around trying to find cheap chlorine at the other stores: Dollar General, grocery, hardware, etc.

I checked that L palce online and I didn't see any liquid.
My closest pool store has 4 big (or whatever size oz.)gallons for 14$ or so 12%..still like to find cheaper.
Does the L store [or maybe it's just a brand name]
'Chlor- Brite' good or does it have CYA too.It says it's PH nuetral and can that go in a inline feeder?????.I would use it just to keep a little chlorine going in feeder but quit buying the borax,so it be worth it if it cost a little more.

My local Shaws has 1 dollar each for clorox 96 oz fri, sat, and sunday. That sounds pretty good (limit 10)

Yes,that helps. I am always looking for something easier than plastic jugs. Why can't the chemical companies make plain granular chlorine with no additives? I saw an ad for a british company that had tablets that you dissolved and made just pure chlorine. Are you listening pool chemical companies!????

The problem is that pure chlorine is a gas and very dangerous. It has to be bonded with something else to get it into a safer form. The "something else" is usually something you don't want in your pool. In the case of bleach, the "something else" is sodium which is probably the least troublesome option of what's out there. The tablets you saw have to have something else in them besides chlorine. Try to find an MSDS sheet on them and that will tell the story.
