Can I jump out the switch?

I've checked the wiring, the flow, all seems to be good. I just hate to sink $150 in a switch. My system is about five years old, well maintained. It just crapped out, a solid red light of NO FLOW. I'm a life long electrician so I'd like to jump it out if possible to save some money.
