Hello. We live in Massachusetts. We have just installed a new 21 ft. above-ground round pool, 52 inches deep, with a vinyl liner. We are interested in your BBB method. I estimate the pool to have a capacity of approximately 10,000 gallons. I have a floating container with 3 TriChlor tabs in it (per pool store recommendation). We have shocked a couple of times with conventional products (both liquid and powder forms). I have a Taylor K-2005 test kit and am just getting started using it. I am not confident (yet) in my ability to interpret the colors, but if I am accurate at this point here are some results: TA: 130 pH: 8.2 FC:8-9 and TC:10. After a lot of reading on your page, I think the best bet is to shock the pool first and go from there. I want to be sure I understand exactly how much 6% Bleach to use based on your estimate on your page of "1 gallon to increase 2 ppm for a 30,000, gallon pool". So I'm calculating 1/3 gallon for my 10,000 gallon pool? That seems like such a small amount compared to 1.5 gallon recommendation from pool guy to use his 12%. So here are my questions: 1) Am I correct about my Bleach calculation? 2) any other recommendations? I appreciate any help you can provide! Thanks in advance!
