I will have my pool gunited tomorrow or Thursday so I'm a couple of weeks away from having a pool to enjoy. In the meantime I have figured I'd test my tap water both before and after the water softener.
Before the water softener:
TC - 1
pH - 7.2
TA - 370
CA - 180
After the water softener
TC - 0
pH - 7.5
CA - 0
Salt - 0 (or 200, I got orange on the first drop)
I did not run the other tests as I figured it'd be moot to test for CYA or FC or CC in tap water.
The interesting part is that the pH has risen after the softener and all the chlorine was gone (the softener is supposed to have a chlorine filtering carbon filter in it). My softener uses Potassium salt not Sodium.
My concern from the look of the fill water that I'll be using for my pool is the TA being really high and my CA being low. My builder will start up my pool which I hope will include getting it balanced.
In the meantime I might head down to the community pool and test the water just for fun :-)
