Default How many gallons do I have.

I'm sure this is asked all the time. I know I asked last year but, sadly I forgot. I have 22' by 52" intex metal frame pool running Krystal Clear Cartridge Filter Pump with 2,500 gph (110-120V). I'm late setting up but finally getting to it. Thanks for any help.

Here's what WaterMom said last year: (found it in your old thread)

I am estimating your volume to be 11,500. Each quart of 8.25% bleach will add about 1.8ppm and each of the 121-oz jugs will add just under 7. Use those as reference to help you figure out doses of bleach to add.

Is the water depth 52", or is that the wall height? The water depth is all that matters and a 4" difference means it's 4' deep.
Volume of a cylinder is pi * r-squared * depth, where r is the radius (11'). So 11 squared * pi * 4 = 1520.53 cubic feet. There are 7.48 gallons in a cubic foot so there are 11374 gallons IF your pool is exactly 22' across and your water is EXACTLY 4' deep.

As FBU put it, 11.5K is close enough.

To find out how much FC is added by a quart of bleach the formula is:

    (1,000,000/11,500) * .0825 * .25 = 1.79ppm of FC or 1.8

1,000,000 is because we measure in PPM--parts per million.
.0825 is the concentration of the bleach (8.25%)
.25 is the fraction of a gallon that is one quart.

Ugh, even with my FC at shock level I'm getting all kinds of water bugs and, there is a slight yellow/brown tint to the water. I changed out the filter and the one that was only running for 24hrs looked like rust. Please tell me this is just dirt from set up. I have been having to scrub the sides and we do have red clay out here. Will try and keep it in shock level and will report back what the filter looks like tomorrow. If there is something else I should be doing before then please let me know. :O(

So, water clear finally this morning. FC- 13.4, pH-7.4, andTA- 150. Filter switched out and was rusty colored but a little lighter then yesterdays.
rechecked FC at 4pm and dropped down to 5.4. Adding 1lb Qiuck dissolving shock and will recheck in an hour.
