Notice that the experiment is with samples that are very still without any wind. That is the only way that type cover will hold heat better than without. Many people, including myself, have tried this product and consensus is that it doesn't work very well for most conditions and the only exception is where there is absolutely no disturbance of the water surface. Then it helps reduce evaporation but not as much as bubble cover.
