So, if anybody knows how to find an old ID with more rights .....

For now, I'll put this here since there appear to be problems.

Have a small 10' x 30" 1,100 gallon metal frame pool. Not for swimmin', just for dunkin' on hot days. Get it?

Canister filters keep dying (impellers falling apart) so I switched to a sand filter.

Don't have a test kit, so don't ask for numbers. Yeah, yeah, I know .... maybe later.

I'm curious about two things though.

I'm finding black strings of something in it. No matter how many I skim, vacuum, snag, etc., I can't seem to get them all. I have a feeling they're the early stages of frog eggs, but they almost seem too small for that. If I pull them out and expose them to sunlight, they dry up and nearly disintegrate. If they are frog eggs, I don't care as much. If they're something else like a form of bacteria, that's another matter.

I also have a very fine white substance that will form a cloudy mass at the bottom and concentrate in lower areas since the bottom is not perfectly flat. It's so fine that any water movement at all causes it to mix back into the water where it's barely visible. May be some form of algae that died off after Shocking, or it could be some form of dust sediment from the air. This is an agricultural area with a couple of rock quarries, so there is lots of stuff in the air.

More concerned with trying to ID these issues than chemical levels right now.

So, before I get into any more, we'll see what happens to this post.
