Hello,
My 19,000 gallon above ground pool has a vinyl liner and I feel very comfortable with using the household bleach, borax, and baking soda to do basic care. I start to have trouble though when my pool store staff says I need to add other things. We just uncovered our pool today after the horrible New England winter. It looks perfectly clear. Tested pH is 7.2, alkalinity 90, CYA 50, calcium hardness 140, phosphates 300, and chlorine is high reading 10.
1) My pool store is telling me to add phos-free. Is that really necessary?
2) Also, they are telling me to add calcium hardness plus. I thought that was not necessary unless you have plaster.
3)The chlorine is high , but I am thinking the bright sun today will burn a lot off, so maybe I should just hold off a few days and recheck that instead of adding any chlorine neutralizer like they suggested. ??
I know they want you to buy tons of products and I do not want to add crap that is not needed and hate to spend the money. Your thoughts would be appreciated! Judy
