I am in the process of installing a liner in my in ground vinyl pool, metal wall construction with plastic steps.

I have removed the old liner, measured and received a new liner, repaired a rusted out wall around the skimmer and installed a new skimmer but have a question concerning installing step gaskets.

I am assuming the self adhesive step gasket material adheres to the steps behind the liner. (1) Do I overlap the corners or just but them together? (2) Does a gasket also go on the outside of the liner behind the metal retainer that screws in place? (3) Do I use sealer on the gasket? The old one was covered with it.

My plan was to secure the steps when the water reached the bottom of them and then cut out the liner. Is that the way to go?

If there is a post that addresses these questions please let me know.

I have searched and watch video's for hours but none are specific on this!
