Hi,

First off, thanks for providing such a great community for pool owners. I've been lurking around reading posts the past month or so and there's certainly a wealth of information here - so much so it's easy to get distracted and wind up in the deep end.

Just moved into a new property last fall which has a 20 year'ish' old Sylvan pool. Approx. 25,000 gallon, plaster w/ the usual cement coping stones and 'sunburst' tile (stb-808) if I've matched it properly.

Pool is in pretty good shape for it's age. starting to show small hint of bond beam separation but nothing too major (a few tiles popped, thin crack). already have some quotes for a full re-coping/tiling, acid wash, and having decking/proper expansion joints re-done. but that's probably 4 or 5 years off.

just opened the pool last friday (early I know) but I'm going to re-surfacing the pool deck and needed the pool cover out of the way. gonna patch up the tiles to get us through the next few years as well. the crack is ABOVE the water line, so no major concerns there quite yet. prior owners lived in the house for 3 years and said the crack/tiles didn't change one bit since they had moved in.

anywho, thanks for reading if you took the time to get a feel for my new pool. I grew up with a pool in the 80's, but I figure pool care has come a good ways. Got myself a test kit (Taylor 2006) and it works really well. should have the pool dialed in over the next week or two.

I'll post up a question or two I have in the proper subforum but thanks for a great place to get info!

Matt
