Default Adding a water auto fill valve to IG pool

Just wondering if anyone has added one of these to their pool? I wish my pool was plumbed for it but it's not and during the hot AL summers I'm having to fill the pool atleast twice a week to keep it where it needs to be and most times I either let it get below the skimmer or I put the hose in it and end up forgetting about it 3-4 hours later and I come out to a pool thats over flowing, LOL.

I found a couple different models but they range from $80-$130 dollars which is overpriced and more than I care to pay..

This one in the link below seems to have the most highly rated reviews but is also one of the more expenive ones priced @ $125

IG Staypoollizer Premium - In Ground Pool - Automatic Water Leveler

I started looked around some more and found what looks to be nearly the exact same auto fill valve as the link above MINUS the PVC pipes to mount it to the side of the pool for only $13 dollars total and reading through the reviews, it looks like a few other people had the same idea and bought this cheaper one saving over $100 and simply made their own mount out of PVC pipes.

Little Giant Rubber Trough-O-Matic® Stock Tank Float Valve TM825

Just wondering if anyone has done any kind of DIY auto fill valves similar to this or using some other brand?

Too ugly to put anywhere near a pool. What is wrong with the "designers" of this ugly thing? You are on a tight budget so I guess you'll have to put up with it. Black, in a pool, what were they thinking? I can't help at that level of spending, mind you if you loose the great big pump you have for the average pool and filter size you could afford a lot more on the money you'd save on electricity

    Huh?

To answer the original question, I haven't done anything like this but I am curious. If you end up trying it out I would like to know how well it works, especially for that price. Its a stock tank auto fill valve for cattle or horse or whatever troughs. Someone put some PVC on it and is selling it as a pool gadget for much more. But if it works for you, go for it and let us know how it goes.

Huh? That hasn't answered the original question either, just a statement of wanting to know how it goes

You can add the water back at the pad, into the return line but a solenoid valve, double check valve and non return may be needed. Then you just need a level sensor in the skimmer or somewhere preferably out of eyesight. probably cost more than the $13 dollars though, for that you just get ugly things.

Aside from the apparent dislike of "ugly" things and financial advice, what have you decided to do Zac581? I would think it would work.
