Default Which pool pump should I use?

i have a 24' above ground which is 15000 us gallon, i also have a sand filter 2.64 sq ft / 53 US gpm.

I own a 1.5hp and a 1hp pool pump, which one do you recommend me to use.

Also what runtime do you recommend? My average pool temperature is 80f.

Are both pumps "Above Ground" pumps? If so, use the 1hp. If one is designated for an "in ground" pool you probably want the other one. In either case, the weaker pump will cost less to run and work more efficiently with your sand filter. But that's an "in-the-ballpark" guess.

I think you'll have to guess and adjust to find the right run-time as well. Maybe start with 4 or 6 hours a day and see how you like it. As long as you're consistently maintaining chemical levels you should be good. Unless you have a tree right above your pool dumping leaves in daily.

80f water right now in Canada. You're heating it, right?
