    Default Hello from Long Island

    Hello all,

First post here. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to open up with a joke or if I can dive right in....

Anyway, I have a 2HP Maxi-Pump that's leaking. I went to Leslie's Pool Supplies in Syosset NY, they were of no help. Island Recreational was not helpful either...

Is there anyplace I can buy a new seal for my pump? I've googled the model number with no luck. Are pump seals more or less "generic"? Can I just buy it by shaft size? I'm pretty desperate as summer is coming to a close and we can't use our pool until the pump is fixed

    Thanks for any help!

    -John

Hi, John, and welcome to the Pool Forum! I wish I could help but your question is not something that I know the answer to. Hopefully, someone else will chime in soon who will know.

Just wanted to say hi! Glad to have you join us!

I'm not the pump guy, either, John, but pumps are usually two pieces (roughly): The pump section, made by the labeled manufacturer, and the motor, most of which seem to be made by A.O. Smith. There are several on-line sources of seals and bearings, but you'll have to do some research on them, and I've had a less-than-optimal experience with one of them.

Where on the pump is it leaking? Between the wet end and the motor?
