Default New Pool and Getting Started

My new 24 ft round pool was setup last week. The pool company wants me to use Pure N Blue (their brand) but I don't want to. I've read about the BBB method. Which is better, BBB or chlorine/shock, etc.?

My chlorine keeps testing at .5 - I'm currently using 2 3" chlorine bars
My Ph is also low. I did bring it up with 1/2 box of borax - put in the morning and tested in the evening and it was way too high. Currently it is back at too low. 6.8
    Alkalinity is at 70.

The pool was cloudy a few days ago and I added 2 gallons of chlorine - a little overboard but its now gone and my pool is back to being clear again.

I'm a new at this pool stuff and not sure what to do to raise my levels and keep them there.

    Thanks for your help!
    Melanie

24 ft round, well water, sand pump, 14,700 gallons of water, ....not sure what other details you need.

Using our Super Simple Start up Recipe would probably work for you since it is a fresh fill as long as you haven't already added any CYA. Can you verify for me exactly what all you have used in the pool thus far?

I would NOT use their Pure N Blue -- whatever that is!

Your pH needs to be brought up asap. Add some more Borax slowly to the skimmer while the pump is running, breaking up any clumps. Use another half a box and then retest pH again a couple hours later and report the reading here.

What is the wall height of your pool?

Welcome to the Pool Forum, by the way!
