Bought mine at Lowe's.
I've been purchasing DuPont PH and Total Alkalinity decreaser with the active ingrediant of Sodium bisulfate at $7 for 4lbs. I have to add 1-2 containers each week to my 21'x43' 54" ag pool. Am I adding the wrong thing? Is there a less expensive way to lower PH and Alkalinity by using muratic acid? Where and what brand is recomended?
Thanks,
Dena
Bought mine at Lowe's.
I buy mine at Home Depot. They recently lowered their price from $9.99 to $7.49 for a box of two gallons.

Lowe's, in the cleaning section, on the bottom shelf. I have also been told that it may be in the masonry or tile section of the store.

Sears has muriatic acid for $3.99 in their paint department. Lowe's price was $5.48 a gallon.
Any one know the brand name or product name on the containers you are purchasing? Is it a liquid? Listing the departments is very helpful because I had looked at Home Depot, Lowes, and Walmart in the pool chemical sectoin and none of the sales people knew anything about it or recomended it may be in another section.
Thanks,
Dena

The product name is muriatic acid. The brand will not matter. You can also get it at a pool store. Check prices. In my area the pool store has the best price! It comes in gallon jugs.

Ace Hardware
Brand Name is Transchem
White plastic gallon jug with Muriatic Acid in large red letters.
Location is in the paint section probably due to a common usage of cleaning concrete with it.
I have never looked for it at Lowe's or Home Depot since they are not local stores for me and Ace Hardware is local and convenient. Not stocked at my local small Wal-Mart.
Our Home Depot has muriatic acid along with all pool supplies outside in the plant/garden area. Sometimes hard to spot because it is in nondescript cardboard boxes of (2) 1 gal. jugs. Usually just sitting on a skid somewhere in the vicinity of the other pool supplies.
