Prior to starting the BBB method I strictly used Trichlor tabs and Dichlor Powder with a mix of algaecide and Yellow Out. For the past 3 years I usually only got a month of clear water during the summer months due to constant algae blooms. My CYA was 190 and CH was 800+. Since then I drained approx. 1/2 of the water and started BBB. That put my CYA at 80-90 and CH at 450. Since then I have been brushing some small black algae stains and it seems every time I do that the CH goes up - at 550 now.

I will have to replaster in the winter - no doubt about that cause there is now a lot of exposed concrete in the deep end of the pool that I believe was partially caused by me putting a plastic container of trichlor at the bottom year round. I am positive that years of unbalance water weakened the plaster and the puck container finished it off.

Anyways my goal right now is try and keep PH balanced in relation to the CH being high which as far as I can based on reading here and other sites that I will need to lower PH as I see the CH go higher. - am I on the right path. This will go on for the rest of the swimming season.

Fill water CH is approx. 280. That is half of what the pool CH is so I suspect that CH is coming from Plaster dust - is that possible?

Thanks for all the assistance
