I was successful using an adjustable wrench on the flats on the motor end of the shaft and a strap wrench on the impeller. I'm pretty sure it's threaded backwards.

we have a hayward power flo 1 hp pump and i am wanting to make sure i can get the right motor berrings for it.. so i tried to take it apart to get the right numbers of the berring but the impeller is very stuburn and wont give.. i have tried the screwdiver in the back and even used locking pliers on the shaft between the motor and the pump housing.. does anyone know a trick to get the impeller off. and does anyone know the exact berrings i need for the motor its a hayward power flo 1580 1hp and the sticker on the motor has the number sp 1510z1xbc on the lable....bill
