conversion of pool from bromine to chlorine

I have a pool that is bromine and I would like to confirm that I can convert it without draining the pool. A local pool & spa store says a just start to add chorine

Other sites say No way,

The short answer is, no, once a bromine pool, always a bromine pool unless you drain, --- but it's actually not quite that simple.
