Default Chlorine Shock okay in Bromine Pool?

Hi - brand new here - saw references to this site from other sources I was reading.

I have a Bromine fed inground pool. I went to a pool store and was told the best way to kill bacteria in a Bromine Fed pool is to occasionally (monthly) shock it with a Chlorine-based shock. I have always used a chlorine-free shock as I understood from other sources that "thou shalt not mix Bromine and Chlorine". I brought this up to the Pool Store "expert" and was told it was okay - just shut the bromine feeder off overnight and let the Chlorine shock work for 24 hours before turning the Bromine feeder back on. "But Bromine will still be in the water?" I state - store expert states this isn't a big deal. There won't be new Bromine added and after the chlorine-shock does its thing it will dissipate quickly. Is this true? Is this recommended by others?

Thanks in advance for any feedback!
