Default SWCG Pool with pavers, polymeric sand is crumbling

This is my first full season with a pool. We have a fiberglass pool with a SWG. We have a 3 foot concrete pool deck surrounded by pavers.

I have noticed that there seem to be some spots near the pool in which the polymeric sand between the pavers is starting to crumble and become displaced causing a rather ugly look to the area.

I am thinking that the salt water from my pool that is splashing to the pavers is probably the cause. Do you think that is correct? Has anybody else had a similar issue?

I was planning to seal the pavers and concrete around the pool this fall after closing the pool, maybe I should have done that prior to opening the pool. We were just too excited to start swimming.

    Thanks

    Dunno.

Most of the problems with deck damage from salt seems to occur in areas where (a) natural stone is used and (b) there's not much rain.

If the builder installed BOTH the pool and the deck, I'd get him involved: he's responsible regardless.

If you want to experiment, you can pick an inconspicuous area, and repeatedly pour concentrated salt solutions (1/4 cup of salt in 1 gallon of water) and see it accelerated damage occurs there.
