There is nothing wrong with trichlor if your CYA is not too high. Those tabs are stabilized which means they have CYA in them. Sometimes people get in trouble with using them if they don't monitor their CYA levels. Most people don't realize that needed chlorine levels are based on that stabilizer reading and thus they don't keep enough chlorine in the pool and then get algae and can't figure out why.
