Default Is CYA test accurate with high chlorine level ?

With chlorine at high level 16PPM is the CYA test still accurate ? How about other tests, like calcium hardness, PH, Alk ?

Or should I just wait on those other test until chlorine is less than 10 ? What is the magic number ?

    thanks,

Since chlorine is assumed to be present in pool water I would think the reagents used in these tests are not affected by it so it shouldn't matter what your chlorine level is. Also, your test kit would probably have something in their instructions if that were the case.

Especially with tri-chlor pucks you always want to keep an eye on pH as they will drive chlorine levels up and the pH down.

CYA test should be accurate. Tests that depend on indicators (pH, TA) can have interferance from high chlorine. some CH tests also will have interferance from high chlorine but not all, CH will definately show interferance from metals in the water.

ok thanks. It did seem that CYA was pretty accurate even with high chlorine. I always have trouble with the CYA test though trying to decide if I can still see the black dot or not.
