Have you ever found rat feces in a pool on a swim ledge but no dead rat? I have seen it when the rat has drowned in pool but never just something that looks like feces and is in a clump form that is still in tact and starting to leave a black smear when scooped out. I check pool EVERY morning to see what surprise is on store for me today.
