Default New Pool using Saltwater System

We just installed and filled a new 24' round above ground swimming pool. We had a 33' round pool and wanted to downsize because we don't have a houseful of kids anymore. We used a regular chlorine system on the old pool and we want to go with saltwater this time. I've googled how to start up a new pool using a saltwater system and can't find any exact responses. Everything I found was how to open it after a winter shutdown. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks!

    Hi!
Not sure there's anything to it.
Once you've installed your SWCG, before you actually start using it:

You'll need to add pool salt to your water to get it to about 3000ppm (You'll need either a drop test or test strips for this.)
You'll need to raise your stabilizer level (cyanuric acid, aka, CYA) to the manufacturer's suggested level--usually between 60 and 80ppm.
Good idea to have your pH and T/A at recommended levels, and, IMHO, the appropriate chlorine level for your CYA.

    Then turn it on.

Do recognize that many above-ground pool manufacturers will void the warranty if you install and use an SWCG.

My manual instructed me on how much salt to put in (125 lbs) to hit the desired salt level, brushed the salt around on the bottom of the pool to try and desolve and ran pump for 24 hours. Been adding bleach as I'm getting my CYA level up so the SWG can maintain on it's own.

My manual has a table for all size/types of pools if you want me to look-up how much salt you need to add to yours let me know.
