    Default Cleaning My Intex Pool

Ok, new here. I'm asking for some advice. I have an 18 x 48 Intex Ultra Frame round pool with the OEM pump and a Intex SWG. Last summer my daughter and a friend of hers got in it with tanning oil. The oil was all over the pool and I never could get it completely clean. So, during the winter I decided to drain it to be able to clean it. Well, it sat all winter drained. Late spring I started the cleaning process. I used a brush and water with no kind of chemicals. After the pool look pretty cleaned I started filling. After filling I had the required amount of salt and started circulating for 24 hours. This is how I've done it in the past and worked out fine. Well, the next morning after starting the filling I noticed the water looked kind of yellow and then that afternoon it was green. I have not started the SWG yet only added the salt. I decided to drain the pool again and give it a good cleaning. My question after the long story is what do ya advise to use as a cleaning agent. I thought of using Simple Green, but was afraid it may leave some kind of residue that may foul up the water chemistry when I refill. I plan on following the steps in the forum next time I fill. Thanks for any advice.

Baking soda paste on a sponge.

You definitely do not want to use a detergent of any kind, especially a chlorine stable detergent like laundry detergent.

Probably a single 10-12# bag / box from Walmart would do it.
