The key here will be in the warranty and materials. You have to make sure your warranty allows for salt. Otherwise using salt could void the warranty. For example if the pool sides are made of untreated steel they will likely rust prematurely. That "saltwater 8000" is likely to be made of some other material or at least coated with something to protect it.
Since you're up north you should also be aware of this. If you decide to heat the pool you'll need to get a heater that is compatible with salt as well. Copper heat exchangers without a nickel or some other coating will corrode and fail prematurely with salt water.
