Newbie - Summer Escapes 14' X 42'' Metal Pool Set

I just purchased this pool for my kids and after reading multiple sites I am still confused on how and what to use in regards to chemicals. Why cant there just be an easy guide for dummies. I have filled up the pool and now what? I bought HTH Pop Up pool start up kit and am more confused. Please some one help me I want my pool to last longer than a week.
