Default Birds using Solar cover for "target practice"

I bought a solar cover this year and I love it, but since last week birds started landing on it. Every afternoon as I remove the cover it is full of bird poop.
Not sure what kind of birds thye are but tye are black and small.
Anyone else having the same issue?

I don't think it is anything I am doing differently. This happens some years, some years it doesn't. I have no idea why but it is not because I am doing anything differently. Just the dumb birds. I will tell you that the years it has been bad, it has only been for a few weeks and then it seems to get better.

I have the same problem through mid-May to mid-June every year. Then it stops (it's stopped, now). Around that time this big fat dumb robin sits on the tree outside my home office window and whacks himself into the window all day, driving my cats crazy. Then he stops in late June. Been going on for at least 3 years now! (I dunno!)

I've tried putting rubber snakes around the pool as scare-crows, to no avail. Then my neighbor's evergreen trees that he planted to create a tight border 16 years ago drop seeds that look like bees into my pool by the million! Now that too is passing.
