Hayward sand filter spewing water out top!!

Sounds like it could be several things, but first and foremost is ... too much sand.

Hi, I am new to this site.

Not sure if this is your problem but I can tell you what happened to our filter.

Similar thing. Water spewing out. We opened the filter, dug out the sand and noticed cracks in the "spoky thing". Sorry, I have no clue what that part is called.

Carl, Not sure if there would be too much sand
since its straight from the manufacturer.

Lorelai, did you replace the part with cracks?
If so, did the spewing stop with that repair??
